In August 1995 Trend won a £45,000 DTI Smart (Small Firms Merit Award
For Research and Technology) Award for its invention TRENDCAM, a quick
and easy method of connecting electrical conductors which can be adapted
to suit a full range of cables.
Apart from speed and ease of its application TRENDCAM obviates the
need for complex compression or percussion tooling, torque wrench settings
and shear head bolts. This would be a big selling factor in the Middle
East, China and Third World Countries.
The Company is working with Liverpool John Moores University to establish
best design and application for the product. Marc Mc Cardle a third
year design student at LJMU has fulfilled a valuable role in the development
of the TRENCAM connector and helped to bring the launch date forward
to early 1998.
All intellectual property rights relating to TRENDCAM belong to
Trend Installation Tooling Limited The DTI initiated a patent search
and the Company has filed a patent application.
